Rochelle’s photo this week is an atmospheric moorland path, underneath a dark and looming sky.
Here’s my story :
The Lonely Path
by francineangelcakes
” I gotta meet Jo, I’m so scared, everything’s different now after the Big Disaster. Jo’s good he’s my friend, he’ll make things OK. Don’t know where he is, haven’t seen him in a while. Ten years ago we made a pact, to meet here on this hilltop – our special place. No-one comes here so we’ll be safe. The sky is so dark, hard to see clearly. What will I do if Jo doesn’t come ? Wait…wait – something moved over there…no…yes ! A beam of light ahead, is it Jo ?

Nicely unsettling. Great pacing, giving the history and inner-turmoil. Well done.

Thank you for your feedback, I appreciate that. Think the mood grew out of me deciding the situation was post apocalyptic !

I sense a bit of Z for Zechariah here in this story. Well done.

Ten years is a long time…will it be Jo? She’s got a lot of faith. 🙂
