IN THAT MOMENT
I see a young couple walking along the street. Perhaps it is a warm Saturday morning. They have been married for three months. His look is of pure joy. She is jubilant to be with her new husband.
What if her family had succeeded in barring their alliance, saying she’s marrying ‘beneath her’ ? Perhaps her quietness hides the force of her will. He is the one for her. perhaps he can’t believe his luck, he holds her close her arm in his. They smile to celebrate their triumph.
Maybe they will go for tea at Lyons Cornerhouse.

This was lovely, Francine. I so hate the “stations” imposed on some. So very glad they ignored the “rules” and chose love over duty!

I like your creative take on this – and the part about “saying she’s marrying ‘beneath her’ ” reminded me of a scene from Down Abbey where Mary ponders marrying “down” when it comes to Tolbert.
