I CAN SEE CLEARLY NOW

My whole being becomes a cruel band of steel around my head, skewing my vision. I narrow my eyes to see better, I’ve got to land this old crate of a glider, but can barely see the ground. We start a heart sinking descent.

These last months have been a downward fall, I see phantom faces, hear voices that that pursue me wherever I go.

The gliders thuds to a standstill on the ground. In this moment there is only the silence, the trees and the clear blue sky. At last my head becomes clear. I know what to do.

  1. This is a beautiful piece of writing. I would love to know the back story as well as what she now knows she has to do.

  2. She certainly sounds in turmoil I wonder if the voices are real or imaginary and what kind of demons are pursuing her.

  3. It’s funny. I was thinking the same thing as Neil. One would think the freedom in the air would be the perfect place to let go… Wonderful write, Francine.

  4. Your main character’s head suddenly clears; he or she knows what to do. But do they really, I wonder? The clarity may be an illusion of his/her mental state, and what he/she plans to do may be a rational response or barking mad. You’ve given us an intriguing situation, Francine!

  5. I thought you conveyed the turmoil and the ultimate relief from the demons brilliantly. Well written

  6. Yes, what goes up eventually has to come down, leaving the tranquil peace of the clouds behind.

  7. A nice quiet glide to clear the head, just the thing!

  8. She knows what to do but she’s not telling us what it is!

    Here’s mine!

  9. Dear Francine,

It seems we both went with flight this week. I hope she sees clearly soon enough. Nicely done.

    Shalom,

    Rochelle

  10. Oh, but now I want to know what she’s going to do! Nice take on the photo prompt, Francine.

  11. What’s she gonna do?? What’s she gonna do?? Is it illegal, immoral, or fattening?? 🙂

  12. A glide through the skies should be the perfect place to clear her head, I hope her solution works.

  13. How dreadful for her that she isn’t freed of her demons by being up in the clouds
