Thanks to Rochelle for hosting the wonderful Fictioneers challenge, and to Jeff Arnold for the photo prompt. I must confess to being a bit distracted by the pandemic, as many people are. Good to be posting stories again. Think Rochelle and I had a similar idea !

Where was I ?
‘I feel untethered, detached from my daily round. An uncanny silence shrouds the …’ QWERTY ? Who or what is QWERTY ?
I remember now, it’s the original layout of typewriter keys, QWERTY spelt from first six keys on the top left letter row of the keyboard ! I didn’t write this acrostic. But what is real any more ? Why not a poetic typewriter.’

The quarantine is terrifying … but what is worse is the control we seem to want.

I agre with you Bjorn – quarantine is terrifying. In my worser moments I feel I’m staring into a sort of abyss of nothingness ! Not sure what you mean by the control we want ?

I really enjoyed this as well, Francine.
The world’s events have us all disjointed, don’t they?
March 30, 2020 at 11:58 am
Great comment Dale, all disjointed says it all. A reminder perhaps that we are powerless to change events, we can only change our perceptions of them.

This pandemic will challenge many. One of my earliest ideas was to write and write, but a poet I am sadly not
March 30, 2020 at 12:00 pm
Thanks for your comment Mike. The urge to write makes sense.
March 28, 2020 at 5:37 pm
Indeed, why not? And my hat is off to the genius who designed the keys according to degree of usage. On my laptop, I have four keys that are completely unreadable– A, S, D and E. And the L is also becoming blurry, along with the O. Most-used letters in English 🙂
March 28, 2020 at 7:08 pm
Thanks Linda- I so glad the QWERTY theme appealed to you ! Are your laptops keys worn out with over use ?
March 29, 2020 at 12:36 am
Well, I’ve had this laptop for 11 years, used it for all of those years to take session notes in my office, as well as all the blogging, etc. So yes, overuse 🙂

Good, timely take on the prompt.
March 28, 2020 at 7:10 pm
Thanks, glad the story seemed to fit.
March 28, 2020 at 7:35 pm
You’re welcome.
March 27, 2020 at 5:04 pm
I liked your strangely arrhythmic approach here.
Cleverly done.
March 28, 2020 at 7:14 pm
Thank you Ceayr, glad you think it worked. I was aware that it was a bit disjointed.
March 27, 2020 at 4:56 pm
After I Googled “acrostic” I got it. Fun!
March 28, 2020 at 7:22 pm
Thanks Ali, I googled acrostic too ! Couldn’t remember name for that layout. Glad you enjoyed it.
March 27, 2020 at 3:32 pm
Yes, that’s clever and quirky, good piece.
March 28, 2020 at 7:30 pm
Thanks so much Michael, glad you liked it. When I was growing up, we had a typewrite like that to play with. Started my love of words maybe ?
March 26, 2020 at 7:03 pm
has a haunting quality which I can’t define except that I like it
March 28, 2020 at 7:31 pm
Thanks Crispina, glad you liked it.

Dear Francine,
We were definitely on the same QWERTY wavelength. 😉 Clever write. Glad you’re here.
Shalom and good health,
Rochelle

Thank you Rochelle, for your welcome back. I’m please to be ‘tethered’ again to Friday Fictioneers, with its positivity and sense of purpose. What weird times these are, at least in the UK. Good health to you and your family..
