COLD CALLING

Here’s the house in this street, took some tracking down. The cold is pinching my face, feel its frozen into a grimace. What am I hoping for ? I am an orphan since my adoptive parents died, searching for my birth mother. I want her to love me.

The agency told me to ‘manage my expectations’. She gave me up 30 years ago. Why would she want me now ? I walk up the path and ring the bell. The door flies open and I feel a burst of warmth from the warm interior. She says ‘ Sweetheart, I wanted this moment for so long, welcome.’
