THAT WEEKEND IN DUBLIN
Friday Fictioneers 5th March 2021 That Weekend in Dublin
Seemed a good idea, a catch up, in Dublin, stay in rooming house, two old friends. Eat in cafes. The house was a ramshackle collision of two Georgian houses. Jake’s room was half a level higher than mine, leading off mutating corridors, different each time we went upstairs. Over supper on our second night, Jake hinted at serious health problems then clammed up. I went to my room with a heavy heart, such a dear old friend.
Next morning I waited for Jake by the bar, sure that’s what we agreed ?
I’d knock on his door, but there was no such room.
Missing persons couldn’t locate him. I never saw him again.
I enjoy making quirky and kind observations about other peopleand about places. I write short word sketches about certain situations that feel significant to me, I draw little cartoons. I reflect on particular t.v programmes, films and books as they grab my interest
