UNINVITED VISITOR
The eye of the camera blinked as the burglar moved past its gaze. He made no sound, scanning each room . From the kitchen, he took a bite from an apple and replaced it in the bowl.
In the study he opened the safe, using code numbers he knew, and
scattered the marriage certificates. Next, the bedroom, where on the table the wedding ring glinted in the gloom with its engraved message: love you always. He grabbed the ring and left the house.
On their return the family discovered the break in, and looked at the camera footage. Mother said, ‘it’s your dad! Not seen him since we divorced.’
