‘Hi Suzie, checked in my bags…sorry I went in a rush. So many people here, can’t breathe’..
‘How can you leave Ali, what will happen to me ?’

‘Can’t hear you Ali , feel dizzy, you must call me when you get there, what’s that ? Your flight cancelled …. ?’
‘No Suzie, mine is the last flight out from here. You’ve got your family’.

For decades (if not more) people have realized that their affair will never grow. She learned to late – Nice story!

Thanks so much Nan for your comment. Glad you liked the story.

I wonder why he felt that he wanted to leave… the place where he’s heading might be worse than the one he is leaving.
May 6, 2020 at 5:17 pm
Good question Bjorn. Guess he doesn’t know how bad the place he’s going to is yet ?

What a dreadful scenario. But sometimes the yearning to be in your own home with your own people can be totally overwhelming.
May 3, 2020 at 3:45 pm
I hear of people experiencing anguishing decisions like this, having to face unknown challenges, centrally separation. I do agree with you about wanting to be at home.
May 2, 2020 at 4:05 pm
I wonder if Ali is having a panic attack with all the people or if he’s ill…
Hey, wait a minute, that’s my name!
May 3, 2020 at 4:10 pm
Good question Ali (the blogger), whether he was getting sick – that’s even worse for him. No relation to you I’m sure.

You’ve captured the desperation brilliantly here. Hopefully they’ll be able to get back together soon.
May 3, 2020 at 4:12 pm
Thank you Michael, I’m glad you liked the story. When I think of people separated in this way, I imagine how scarey it would be. Yes, I want them to be re-united too.

Timely story, showing another unfortunate part of this whole covid-19/lockdown situation. The world has been turned upside down 🙁
May 3, 2020 at 4:19 pm
Thanks for your comment – yes the world has turned upside down hasn’t it.
May 4, 2020 at 1:29 am
You’re welcome.

But–“Ali” isn’t a British name, is it? Maybe he was born there. In any event, this is a tragic tale, and written in such a way that it makes you feel the hysteria. Well done.

Thanks for your comment Linda, much appreciated. Glad you liked the story.

There have been some terrible decisions including people who have flown somewhere more dangerous because that is where their loved ones are.
You captured the desperation well in the fractured dialogue.
May 3, 2020 at 6:27 pm
I appreciate your comment, glad you liked the fractured dialogue – its what I wanted to achieve.
April 30, 2020 at 12:40 pm
That’s a horrible predicament to be put in, but I imagine some people have had to make just this sort of horrible decision.
May 3, 2020 at 6:33 pm
Yes, I agree that no there’s easy decision in these circumstances, not easy.
April 30, 2020 at 12:08 pm
Dear Francine,
Not sure I’d want to board a flight right now. Nicely written.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Thanks Rochelle, I appreciate your comment. I must say being in the confined space of an aircraft for hours at this time sounds pretty grim.
April 30, 2020 at 12:06 pm
Oh dear… Never mind, there’s always another year 🙂 🙂 🙂
