Sammi Cox’s challenge this week is to write 99 words, inspired by the word ANATHEMA.
Here’s my take.
ANATHEMA THE COMMUNE
I was five when we joined the commune, my mother and I. And left my dad.
You said “Sharing is better than solo, we is better than I, the commune is our mother. We are New Age adults. Our leader will take care of us, guide us.”
I ran with the kids. We fought at meal times, never enough to eat. Hardly saw my mother, cried at night, learnt to hide my feelings.
I left at sixteen. I still puzzle why this better world of peace and love left me feeling lost, unloved, unimportant. Peace and love ? I think not.

What a horrid way to live. I would have run away too!

Appreciate your comment Dale . A bleak place for a kid to live indeed.

Dear Francine,
Wow. A whole story in 52 words. What was peace and freedom to the mother became a prison to the child. Well done.
Shalom,
Rochelle

Very much like it. Sounds like somewhere along the way, priorities were lost.

Thank you, appreciate your feedback. I guess movements can lose their way.

We all can., 🙂

I have to agree with your narrator. Sometimes too much freedom can take one hostage.

Thank you Violet, I appreciate your comment. Interesting idea – that freedom can take you hostage. Will ponder that.
