IN ORDER
Hurry, need to cross the road before the amber light goes red. My heart races, just made it. Things need to be in order. Wake up have a shower, three minutes, breakfast at 8, crossroads at 8.15, same people waiting to cross.
Today I overslept, calamity, never been this late before. I stare at the ground, trying to calm down.
‘Hi, did you press the pedestrian button ?’
‘Er, no. I’m late today, in a muddle’.’
I look up at the woman who spoke to me. She has a big smile, hazel eyes, so calm. I feel hypnotised.
‘Do you go this way, we can walk together.’
A smile creeps over my face. Today is different.

Dear Francine,
I could feel her tension as her well-ordered life has been disrupted. Perhaps this new friend will be a good thing for her.
