Walking inside the Lillies
‘Calm down Billy, I know it’s scarey that mum’s gone missing. It’s only been 24 hours, sure she’ll be re-join our tour group soon’. Brian was also telling himself alongside his son to calm down. Where had Lula gone and why? She’d disappeared during the visit to the sultan’s palace.
‘I become smaller and smaller, my shoulders brushed with pollen,
feeling faint from breathing in the lillies’ scent.
the pale sunlight shines through the translucent pearly petals, which become
the palace courtyard with a fountain at its heart.
I am spellbound by this place
what else is there ? Only the distant clamour of my other life.

Took me a couple of seconds to make the transition from reality to the dream world the missing wife and mom entered. I wonder if she’ll make it back–or even if she’ll want to.

A little bit of magic which raises the question would you go back to your routine responsibilities in the real world if it happened to you. It’s a tough one, be selfish and enjoy or bear with your obligations

Thanks for your reflections Michael. I agree, it can be a dilemma.

It sounds like some sort of magical seduction is at work here 🙂

it sounds like she became a concubine. she’s forever trapped.

Thanks for your comment. Maybe she’ll be trapped in the hareem rather than her life back home ?

Francine,
I can’t help but wonder what sorcerer’s magic is at work here. Is it for evil or good? What a tale you’ve created of a world within a world!

Dear Francine,
It took me a couple of reads to realize what had happened to Lula. It sounds like she might be happier in her new life.

How intriguing! It sounds as though she’s turned into a bumble bee. Or perhaps he scent of the lilies is hallucinogenic. Perhaps the Sultan’s palace courtyard is the human equivalent of a pitcher plant, trapping the unwary and susceptible. Rather a beautiful image, and Lula sounds pretty happy.

Thanks for your reflections Penny. I love your idea about the Sultan’s palace courtyard becoming the human equivalent of a pitcher plant – that’s so inventive of you.

Magical. I wonder if she was unhappy in her life before or just seduced by the magic of the palace

Thanks for your comment Neil, so pleased you found it magical. Good question you pose. Not sure of the answer at the moment.
