Rochelle’s splendid Friday Fictioneers’ challenge this week is prompted by this intriguing image. Are you inspired to write a 100 words ?
STAR CROSSED
” Jools are you there ? Don’t be shy, no-one’s about but me. It’s siesta time. Come down into the garden. Come sit with me awhile. You are so beautiful.”
“I’m blushing you bad boy…”
“Kiss me ?”
“Romey, come sit closer to me.”
“Your eyes are like stars”
” Stars send bad omens, don’t speak of them. Us two lovers we are twin halves…”
“All together now — We One World Make.”
“Hello Nana, you look fearful. What is wrong ?”
“You’re both in grave danger. The old men know about you.”
” Come along Jools, hop on my Vespa — we’re off to Bologna ! “

Much prefer this version, but comedies sit better with me than tragedies. Will have to check out that show!

I bet the bard was listening in – it’s how he got all his ideas. Nice parody.
March 8, 2019 at 9:46 am
Appreciate your feedback. I do think the Bard spent a lot of time listening to life around him. Glad you liked the story.

Ah Romeo and Juliet running away to Bologna. How far will they go in their Vespa? Elders have more powerful machines!
March 7, 2019 at 12:14 pm
Good question Abhijit . Think you’re right about the power of the elders- not good for the couple.

Dear Francine,
Love the take. I hope they make it this go around. 😉 Well done.

Thanks for your feedback Ali. I’m rooting for them. I heard that Bologna is a fine food city (now) – so maybe they’ll eat well !

What a lovely take on the prompt! Eat your heart out, Shakespeare – this is how the story should have gone!
March 7, 2019 at 5:25 pm
I appreciate you kind comment Penny. I agree with you about how story should have gone. I’ve been watching a quirky comedy on tv called ‘Upstart Crow’, about Shakespeare. Makes me laugh – & inspired this take I think.
