Well old friend’ said Mark as they sat round the bistro table, ‘Us thirty years on.
Us at seventeen, so certain of our paths in life ‘ said Kasper.
‘I couldn’t foresee what a road crash my life would be. Marriage to Rachel a good Jewish girl, kids, being a human rights lawyer’.
‘How did it work out ?’ asked Mark.
‘Rachel and I were like oil and water, my parents chose RacheI, I believed
their choice was mine. So we parted. My crusade for rights became slowly
calcified til it felt pointless. That’s me.’

Once a person makes that realization it becomes an opportunity. Yet if he gives Rachel the boot, then he has to contend with his controlling parents. Maybe it’s time! Good, complex story, Francine.

Thanks for your comment Ali. I was thinking about that point in life when you have a big choice to make if you’re minded to, or not.

The story of a life. A man who’s perhaps been too much of a people pleaser and found himself middle-aged and without having followed his own dreams. A big story, Francine!

Thanks Penny, I appreciate your comment. You are right, its a big theme isn’t it – choices to make in middle age.
