PHOTO PROMPT © Brenda Cox
Thanks to dear Rochelle for hosting Friday Fictioneers and to Brenda Cox for the photo.
What Time is it ?
‘Marco, get real, we’ve only got half a day’s filming time left, and you are twiddling with the trees’ .
‘Yes Boss, but we need to woo our audience, nuance our message. We need lingering shots of lady-birds, sun kissed meadows with gamboling of new born lambs, fields full of sunflowers, alongside a soundtrack of mountain waterfalls cascading into alpine pools. We Must Protect Mother Nature.
Just forget the Doomsday Clock being one minute away from midnight stuff, it’s too depressing. The public will never buy that !’

No one wants to hear the message. Well done, Francine!

Thanks for your comment Mason, glad you liked the story.
June 27, 2021 at 9:38 am
Is there even the time now to get the message across?
June 27, 2021 at 6:24 pm
Good point Sandra, I do wonder about that.
June 27, 2021 at 12:42 am
I agree with everything everyone else said. But, I will add that you took a wonderful take on the prompt.

I appreciate your comment Alicia, thanks very much.

Dear Francine,
Nice tension building. Perhaps the public needs to hear more Doomsday. 😉
Shalom,
Rochelle

Thanks for your comment Rochelle, I think there’s a kind of ‘rabbit caught in the headlights ‘ passivity to the situation.
June 26, 2021 at 4:12 am
Go for the shock tactic or something different? A tricky message to get people to absorb.
June 27, 2021 at 6:45 pm
Thanks Ali, I agree with you, a difficult message to take in. especially as it involves having to change our ways !!
June 25, 2021 at 3:58 pm
i commend him for trying. 🙂
June 28, 2021 at 10:37 am
Thanks for your comment, guess we need people to keep trying.

What a cleverly written metaphor. While planting trees isn’t a waste of time, it matters much more that we cut emissions. As they might have said on the set: “Cut!”
June 28, 2021 at 10:41 am
Thanks for your feedback Penny, much appreciated. Cut indeed !! Very witty.

It’s a hard battle to get this particular message across but it needs re-iterating as often as possible
June 28, 2021 at 10:48 am
Thanks for your comment Michael. I agree, it’s a hard battle for us to confront how much we need to change to become sustainable.
June 25, 2021 at 10:03 am
Good story. Depressing or uplifting images and films won’t change a thing until people are directly affected. Then they’ll get it, but then it might be too late already.
June 28, 2021 at 10:55 am
Thanks for your comment. I agree with you that people will need to be affected before they’ll do anything.
June 24, 2021 at 2:58 pm
You’re right. It’s a hard message to convey successfully. But, somehow, we have to
June 28, 2021 at 11:02 am
Thanks Neil, I appreciate your comment. I agree with you, we have to convey the message.

Yikes! Times up! Well done.
