The new-to-me feline version the image that oscillates between looking like 2 faces and looking like 1 goblet is a pleasing design (with a much better-looking goblet), but the golden oldie is still the champ at showing the effect so nicely described in the haiku.
Thank you for your comment- it is fascinating to alternately ‘see’ both images, I think. What prompted me to reflect on the topic is my life drawing teacher’s instruction when drawing a human figure – ‘look at the negative space around the figure, because you have no pre-conceptions about that ‘.
