NOT OK
Ted thought his mood would lift by going on a lonely trudge through the damp woodland. He stumbled against a rotting tree stump, worm riddled, set amongst rotting leaves, slimey, disgusting. Mistake, his mood worsened.
He must head home, supper was at six.
Matty his mother watched Ted as he took his place at the kitchen table, wrapped in misery.
‘How are you doing Ted ?’ his mother asked.
He shook his head.
‘We could feed the chickens after supper ?’
‘Maybe’ he said.

Dear Francine,
Poor Ted. Some days are just like that. Nicely done.
